How to Learn to Love the Kitchen When You Hate to Cook

I received the mentioned items in this post in exchange for an honest review. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, you won’t find many recipes here… because I HATE to cook. If I had a choice between preparing a meal (shopping for ingredients, prepping, and cooking) or jury duty, I’d probably choose the latter. Heck, spending a day ankle deep in mud, wrangling crocodiles sounds about as appealing as spending time in the kitchen. Since I’m not a huge fan of preparing meals, I was ecstatic when Dinner Thyme offered to send me a few of their meals to try out.

If you haven’t heard of them, they are a company that takes all of the hard work out of cooking a meal. Each week they have nine new recipes on their site you can choose from. Plus, you can pick the number of portions you want, and they happen to be the only company that offers single portions too! The meals I chose for us to try were the steak and potatoes with a mushroom bordelaise and pan seared chicken thighs with wild rice and red beans. All of the ingredients arrived on our doorstep fresh and ready to assemble, and the meat was already marinating and prepped to cook.

From the time I turned on my stove and oven to the time I plated the food, it took all of maybe 15 minutes. FIFTEEN minutes! I didn’t have to go to the grocery store or prep anything, and the directions were simple to follow… basically cooking for dummies… in other words, it was made for ME!

Instead of stressing over what to make for dinner and setting out the meat to thaw and spending an hour or two in the kitchen, I was able to enjoy heating up the food while getting my son involved helping.

It was quick and painless, and we were able to spend more time enjoying each other as a family. I was less aggravated and exhausted and more excited about the appetizing plate of deliciousness in front of me.

And let me say that the steak was mouth-watering good… definitely my favorite dish. I was shocked it was as good as it was! They do say a happy wife equals a happy life, right? Well, maybe they were right because the atmosphere was quite different, and I believe I can attribute it to Dinner Thyme helping us out! The bottom line is, my time is precious. Spending all of it slaving over a hot stove is not ideal. Thank you, Dinner Thyme, for helping a sister out!
