Where to Stay and What to Eat When in Atlanta

Thank you to the following hotel, restaurants, and small shop for the complimentary items received in this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Girl time. We all need it. Time to get away from the nagging to-do lists, endless obligations, and pressing fatigue is a rare and precious commodity. Recently, I was able to enjoy the luxury of getting away with a couple of my mom friends for a short time to relax and recharge. The entire weekend experience was heavenly thanks to a pristine, gorgeous hotel room, scrumptious food, and cozy clothing (void of remnants of snot and other bodily fluids… thanks kids!). This delightful weekend getaway of ours was spent in the Atlanta, GA, area.

The Hotel

One hotel has always stood out to me near Atlanta, and I was ecstatic to be able to work with them on spreading the word about their beautiful facility and friendly staff. If you have never visited The Hotel at Avalon, then go ahead and add visiting this slice of heaven to your bucket list. Tucked away just outside of Atlanta in Alpharetta, GA, this hotel is perfect for either a girl’s trip or a romantic getaway. I hope to stay there again with my husband!

Upon arriving we were greeted by cheery parking valets who promptly took our luggage and parked our vehicle for us. When we entered the building, I’m almost positive I let out an audible “wow” as my breath was taken away by the high ceiling and stunning décor.

Our room was just as breathtaking as the main floor and was spotlessly clean. The smallest details like the bookshelf wallpaper in the toilet room and the comfy robes hanging in the closet made me feel like a queen.

When visiting The Hotel at Avalon, you do not have to leave the property for your belly to be filled or for you to be entertained. The Avalon is its own little town filled with shops, restaurants, movie theater, and even the most delightful pumpkin patch for fall. You could park your car once and not get in it again until checkout. Plus, you are still a short drive from all that Atlanta has to offer if you do choose to get out and see the sights.

We window shopped ‘til we dropped and were kept warm and cozy on a chilly day in our comfy Mama Bear sweatshirts from Loved by Hannah and Eli. The owner of this Mama Bear online clothing shop 100% understands that moms need time to unwind and wanted to make our trip that much more enjoyable by giving us something cozy to relax in while vacationing. The sweatshirts were warm and cute, but at the same time, served as a reminder of why we were spending time away in the first place. In order to parent our sweet kiddos well, we needed to take care of ourselves, too. You can get your own Mama Bear attire from Loved by Hannah and Eli for 15% off using code: atlanta15

The Food

Butter and Cream

This mom getaway trip kept tummies satisfied and spirits high, let me tell you. Probably my favorite taste bud tantalizing treat I had all weekend was the ice cream from Butter and Cream on the Beltline in Atlanta. I enjoyed a scoop of Apple Harvest and a scoop of Pumpkin Spice flavors atop a crispy waffle cone for the win. I’m seriously still dreaming of going back for more the next time I head to Atlanta. The ice cream was delicious, the shop was adorable, and the street it rests on is beautiful.

Hugo’s Oyster Bar

Speaking of delectable food, dinner at Hugo’s Oyster Bar was outstanding. Honestly, I am not a seafood fan. But my partners in crime were, so I tagged along hoping there would be something on the menu that didn’t at one point in time reside in the sea. I was happily surprised by the award-winning Hugo’s Burger with a side of crispy fried okra. And let’s not forget about the tasty fried green tomatoes we enjoyed as one of our appetizers. Mouth-watering goodness is all I can say about this meal. My seafood loving friends gave their seafood dishes two thumbs up and we all left feeling beyond pleased. If you decide to visit this establishment, you must ask for your waitress to be Crystal. All three of us agreed that she was the best server we had ever experienced at a restaurant to date. She is gold!

Colletta

On our second night of this mini vacation, we decided to try out one of the restaurants at the Avalon. Being able to walk to our restaurant was half the fun of our dining experience. The atmosphere of Colletta Italian Food and Wine was a combination of both elegance and relaxation, allowing for the perfect date night (had our husbands been in tow). Since I personally do not drink any alcohol, our waitress suggested a few mocktails for me to try. I decided to go with the Arancione Italian Orange Cream soda. The kid inside of me came out to play with this tasty concoction, and I couldn’t stop at just one. The food that followed was fit for a king… or at least a very large family with a wide spectrum of differing tastes. We enjoyed the Chef Specialty, an array of various dishes divided into a full three-course meal. The amount of food you receive for the price is worth every penny. My favorite dish of the night was the Black Pepper Tagliatelle, a unique and flavorful pasta dish with the yolk of an egg perched atop a hill of seasoned to perfection pasta. I was skeptical of the yolk, but soon learned it truly made the dish!  Overall, we enjoyed the fine dining experience and excellent service at Colletta.

C and S Seafood

I told you I have a couple of seafood loving friends, right?! So of course, we visited one more seafood spot in the Atlanta area for brunch, C and S Seafood. Yes, you read that right. Brunch. This restaurant is more known for their dinner seafood dishes, such as the tasty oysters they have garnered attention for, but they do serve breakfast food with touches of the sea on weekend mornings. The Avocado Toast and Bananas Foster French Toast were a couple of favorites at our table. I actually tried oysters for the first time and thought the flavors were on point. They were parmesan cheese baked oysters which were cooked through and smothered with cheesy goodness. Overall, we were pampered by our servers and our palettes were satisfied by an array of textures and flavors.

As you can probably tell, we had the best time in the Atlanta area and can’t wait for the next girl’s trip! Every mom deserves a getaway as relaxing and refreshing as this one.
